In the Artist's Words:
One of my first memories is folding sheets from my mother's tablets on which I had painted with watercolors from a blue tin. I put them under the stove to dry and then unfolded them to see what 'new' design appeared. Art was magic for me, a place to 'go'...to be in the moment and feel alive. The goal of study in art has been to simply 'deepen' my work and most of the art education I have received has been independent study. At age 50 I received a MFA degree in interdisciplinary arts (painting and writing).
I grew up in a fishing village and have always been linked to islands and salt water. I hauled 150 lobster traps by hand from a 15-foot wooden skiff for over twenty years and worked on many other boats. Now I have stepped away from that and am dedicating my energies to my 'artist' self.
I have exhibited throughout the state of Maine and in Roswell, New Mexico. I was published in an international art magazine of 'outsider art.' Much of my work is on plywood where I utilize the grain as part of the design.
