images of God

the head of a striper
turned sideways
emptied eye socket
at low tide

the man's name
aidan
is a ghost lover

labored breathing
of a doctor
running down a dirt road

a charred totem
guarding a campsite
aboriginal

women's faces looking upward
in a wheeled mandala
legs and arms outstretched
fluttering
angel wings
on a sand beach

even in mongolia
outside a hide yurt
there is a generator
and old american music
fills the night

eskimos parking snowmachines

satellite dish spreading
like poison ivy gone wild
on an island....
the world

we know

outer escapes
are leaving
us

only an inner inuvik
a slow spiraling turtle
a penetrating
into a void-dark mystery

where there are no longer words
speaking

only

a listening
